About tinyurls.online
tinyurls.online is a free URL shortener. You paste a long web address, and we give you a short one that redirects to it. It is operated by DIGITALSERVICESONLINE.
What we believe
- Free means free. There are no paid plans and no premium tier. Every feature is available to everyone, and an account is optional.
- Collect as little as possible. You can shorten a link without giving us any personal information. Click statistics are simple counters, with no IP addresses or tracking cookies attached.
- Links should stay trustworthy. The destination of a short link never changes once it exists, and we act on reports of abuse.
How the service works
When you shorten a link we store the destination address and a short code. When someone opens the short link, our server looks the code up and sends the visitor to the destination with an HTTP redirect. We count the click, and nothing else about the visitor is stored in our statistics. Read what a URL shortener is and how it works for more detail.
Keeping the service safe
- Only
httpandhttpsdestinations are accepted. Private network addresses and other URL shorteners are refused. - Link creation is rate-limited to make large-scale abuse harder.
- Anyone can report a link. We review reports and disable links that lead to malware, phishing, scams or illegal content.
- You can preview any short link before visiting it by replacing
/s/with/p/in the address.
How the service is paid for
Running a website costs money, and it is currently paid for by the operator. If we ever add advertising, it will appear only on information pages, never on redirects or account pages, and optional cookies will only be used with your consent.
Our other tool: free QR codes
The same operator also runs QRKite (qrkite.online), a free tool for building QR codes with custom colours, frames and logos, plus Wi-Fi and restaurant-menu QR codes. It is a separate website with its own policies. Our guide on QR codes versus short links explains how the two tools differ and work together.
